What kind of organization are you?
The setup guide's first step: say what kind of organization you are, and it adds a structure to start from, a chart for your books where you have none, and the relationship a new unit usually has.
Say what kind of organization you are
- On Getting set up, press Open What kind of organization beside the first step.
- Press the card closest to your organization: One organization, An organization with branches, An international network with country partners, A federation of member bodies, A group of companies, or A foundation that funds others. Each says what it adds, and why.
- Where your books have no accounts yet, check Start your books with: the kind's own chart is chosen, and you can choose another, or No chart for now.
- Press Set it up.
Then: Its units are added under the unit you registered, with their departments, and each new unit's relationship where the structure says it. The chart's accounts are added, ready to rename. Add a unit on Hierarchy now starts on the kind's usual relationship. You are taken back to Getting set up, where the step is checked.
Rather not? Press Skip this step to leave it: nothing is added, and the step is checked.
Grace registered Acme Relief, which works through partners in Nepal and Cambodia. Grace presses An international network with country partners and Set it up. Head office and First country partner appear under Acme Relief, the partner as a Partner organization, the chart has its accounts, and every unit Grace adds next starts as a Partner organization.
Choose again, or another kind
- Open Getting set up, and press Open What kind of organization.
- Press a card, and Add what this kind starts with.
Then: Only what is not already there is added. The usual relationship for a new unit changes to the kind's.
Rather not? To change only the usual relationship, open Settings › Level types.
If Start your books with is not offered
- Read the line under the cards: it says why.
- Where your chart already has accounts, nothing is added to it: open the Chart of accounts to add more.
- Where only the organization's top book keeper or an Owner or Admin may shape the chart, ask one of them to choose the kind.
Then: The structure and the usual relationship are still added, without a chart.
Only an Owner or an Admin says what kind of organization this is, as only they set it up.
