Verification
How ORG-APP confirms who runs your organization, so that it can take money and carry the Verified mark.
Ask to be verified
- Type the Legal name, as it appears in the register.
- Choose the Country it is registered in, and type the Register, such as the IRS (EIN) or the Charity Commission.
- Type the Registration number and the Official website.
- Give A person we can call and Their phone number, with the country code.
- Add A copy of the registration certificate (optional) if you have one.
- Press Ask to be verified.
Then: The page says when you asked and that ORG-APP is checking, and ORG-APP's team is told. ORG-APP checks the number in the public register, that your website names your organization, and that your bank account is in your legal name. Whoever asked hears by email when it is decided.
Mary Ann's youth charity is registered with the Charity Commission. Mary Ann types its legal name and number, its website and the treasurer's phone, adds a PDF of the certificate and asks on Monday; the page then says ORG-APP is checking.
See where it stands, and what it opens
- Read the top of the page.
- Asked on a date, under Your request, means ORG-APP is checking. Verified on a date means it is done. Not verified gives the reason.
Then: Once verified, your payments are open: your Give page, bank details and paid places appear to the public, and your name carries the Verified mark wherever people find it. Until then they stay hidden, so nobody can take money in your organization's name.
Dara's youth charity opens its summer camp with paid places. The public sees only the free places until the charity is verified; once it is, the paid places and the bank details on each booking appear.
Withdraw a request
- While ORG-APP is checking, press Withdraw the request under Your request, then Withdraw it.
- Ask again with the form when you are ready.
Then: The request is withdrawn, and any copy of the certificate you sent is deleted. Who withdrew it is recorded in the organization's audit log. The form is back.
If you were not verified
- Read the reason in the notice at the top of the page.
- Correct what it names. Often it is a bank account in somebody else's name.
- Fill in the form under it again and press Ask to be verified.
Then: The new request is checked like the first, and you hear by email again.
Daniel is told the organization was not verified because the bank account is in the treasurer's own name. Daniel opens an account in the organization's legal name, then asks again from this page the same week.
Anybody can open this page and see where the request stands, and the form with every box disabled. Only an organization-wide role that edits settings, such as the Owner or an Admin, can ask or withdraw. A demo organization is never verified, and its payments are never held.
