The organization's own labels on its money, such as a grant, an event or an appeal: put on any line, then used to filter and group the reports.
Add a tag
- Under Add a tag, type its Name, such as Grant ABC or Event 2027.
- Choose its color.
- Press Add the tag.
Then: It is offered at once on the lines of bills, supplier credits, invoices, quotes, repeating invoices and sales receipts, on claims and Money in, on each Money out line, and on every line of the Journal, in every unit's book.
Who: Whoever keeps the organization's chart of accounts adds and changes tags: the top unit's treasurer, an Owner or an Admin. Everybody who reads a book reads the list.
Meridian's treasurer adds Grant ABC in teal, so every cost the grant pays for can be tagged and its report read in one place.
Tag what you record
- On a bill, a credit, an invoice, a quote or a sales receipt, open a line's tag box and check its tags.
- In the Journal's Post an entry, choose tags under Tags for every line, or each line's own under its fund.
- On Money in or a claim, choose them under Tags; on Money out, on each line.
- Record it as you always do.
Then: Each line keeps its tags. A document's other side, such as the payable or the bank, carries the tags every one of its lines shares. A line also names its own program, or the document's where it names none.
See the money a tag carries
- Press Journal beside the tag for every line carrying it, or Income and spending for its statement of activities.
- On Reports, choose the tag in place of Every tag on the statement of activities, the general ledger or spending by purpose, and press Apply.
- In the Journal, choose it in place of Every tag and press Search.
Then: Only the lines tagged with it are counted. The report's heading, its PDF and its spreadsheet say the tag, and no budget is set beside a tag. Each tag on this page says how many lines carry it.
Rename a tag, or archive it
- Press Change beside it, change its Name or its color, and press Save.
- To stop offering it, press Archive; press Bring back to offer it again.
Then: Lines keep their tags. An archived tag stays named on every line and report that carries it, and is listed under Archived.
The list is the organization's, one for every unit's book. Reading it needs See the books at a unit; adding and changing tags needs Record money at the top unit, or the finance key for the whole organization.
