Stripe

Card payments taken on a unit's own Stripe, as its book keeps them: in gross, out by fee, refund, lost dispute and payout to the bank, each posted by itself as Stripe tells ORG-APP.

Keep a unit's Stripe in its book

  1. Choose the unit at the top, if you can open more than one book.
  2. Under Card fees go to, choose the spending account card fees post to, or Add “Payment processing fees”, and press Save. This is done once for the whole organization.
  3. Under Stripe balance, choose the account Stripe's money waits in, or Add “Stripe balance”.
  4. Under Payouts land in, choose the bank account Stripe pays out to.
  5. If other units' programs are paid through this Stripe, choose a money in transit account under Held for other units, or Add “Money in transit”.
  6. Press Start.

Then: From then on, a card payment taken on the unit's own Stripe for a booking, a class place, membership dues or an invoice lands in Stripe balance in full, and its Stripe fee comes out of it to the card fees account as soon as Stripe says what it was. Each payout moves from Stripe balance to the bank on the day Stripe says it arrives, as one entry, so the bank's own line matches it on For review.

Rather not? Press Stop to post card payments as before, into the takings account. What was posted stays. To change Stripe balance's account while it holds money, check Move the balance to the new account: it moves in one entry.

Who: Whoever keeps the unit's book starts it and chooses its accounts. The card fees account is the organization's: whoever keeps the top book chooses it, or an Owner or Admin, who also add the two accounts to the chart.

Grace keeps the book of Hillside Center, which takes conference bookings on its own Stripe. Grace adds Payment processing fees and Stripe balance and chooses 1010 First National Bank for payouts. A $120.00 booking lands $120.00 in Stripe balance and $3.78 goes to fees; two days later the payout of $116.22 matches the bank's line.

Read what Stripe posted

  1. Read Stripe balance in the book: what Stripe holds for this book and has not paid out yet.
  2. Read What Stripe posted: each card payment, fee, refund, lost dispute and payout, with Stripe's reference and its entry.
  3. Press an entry's number to open it.

Then: A payout whose bank line is not matched yet says so, and Payouts waiting for the bank counts them. Fees still to come counts the card payments of the last weeks whose fee Stripe has not said yet.

If a payment is refunded, disputed or a payout fails

  1. Refund the payment in your Stripe dashboard, or answer the dispute there.
  2. Read the row it makes under What Stripe posted.

Then: A refund of a booking, a class place or dues, in full or in part, comes out of Stripe balance and out of the income it was paid to; an invoice's card payment refunded in full is undone, and the invoice is owed again. Any fee Stripe gives back returns to the card fees account. A dispute changes nothing while it is open: the book's keepers are told. A lost dispute takes the money out of the income and Stripe balance, the booking, place, dues or invoice is owed it again, and the dispute's fee posts; a won dispute posts only a fee Stripe kept. A failed payout's entry is reversed and the book's keepers are told.

Who: The finance keepers nearest the unit are told in the bell of a failed payout or a lost dispute.

Stripe shows one unit's book at a time, among the units where you have See the books. Starting, changing and stopping need Record money at that unit; the card fees account and adding accounts to the chart need the organization's top book. Banking is part of the Finance book, where your organization's plan has it.
