Start from a structure

Lay down a common shape for your organization in one go: its levels, units, departments and teams, ready to rename.

Start from a ready-made structure

  1. Press the card closest to your shape, such as Multi-country federation or Single office.
  2. Under What its levels mean here, leave each level to be created, or choose to use a level you already have, or Skip this level.
  3. Press Preview to see how many units, departments and teams it would create.
  4. Press Use this structure.

Then: It is made at once, and the page says what was created. Everything it made can be renamed, moved or archived afterwards, on the Hierarchy and Structure pages.

A new federation chooses Multi-country federation, keeps its four levels, and presses Preview to read what it would make. Daniel then presses Use this structure, and renames First country to Kenya on the Hierarchy page.

Add a structure to the units you have

  1. Read the note above the cards: it says how many units your chart already has.
  2. Choose a card.
  3. For each of its levels you already have, choose the option that says Use my and your level's name.
  4. Press Preview.
  5. Press Use this structure if the count is what you expect.

Then: Anything already there by the same name is left exactly as it is, and only what is missing is created. If everything is there, Preview says nothing would change.

Sokha's organization already has a head office and two regions. Sokha chooses a card, sets its top level to their own Organization level, and Preview says how many it would create, with the rest already here and left alone.

If none of the shapes is yours

  1. Take the closest, and rename, move or archive what does not fit afterwards.
  2. Or build it a unit at a time on The hierarchy, or from a spreadsheet with the importer.

Then: Neither way is more correct. An organization with one office needs no shape at all: one unit is a good shape.

The shapes offered depend on your organization's plan. Only an organization-wide role that may change units can use one; anybody else sees a line saying so.
