Org chart

Who reports to whom, drawn from Hierarchy › Positions, for a unit and everything below it where you keep HR records.

See the chart for a unit

  1. Choose a Unit.
  2. Press Show.
  3. Read the figures above the chart: positions, filled, vacant, and people on the chart.
  4. Read each box: the holder's name, or Vacant, with the title and the unit.

Then: Each position sits under the position its holder reports to, and each person who reports to a position without holding one sits under it. A line above the chart says whom the unit itself reports to. Under a name, a note says Starts or Probation ends when either is within 30 days, and otherwise how many report to them.

Ana chooses North Region and presses Show. The chart reads 12 positions, 10 filled, 2 vacant, with the Riverside lead's box saying 3 reports, and a line above it saying North Region reports to the regional director.

Show or hide vacancies and volunteers

  1. Press Show vacancies to hide the empty positions, or again to show them.
  2. Press Show volunteers to add the volunteers who report to a position without holding one.

Then: Vacancies show until you turn them off; volunteers only when you ask. Positions, filled and vacant count every position either way; people on the chart counts only who is drawn.

Zoom in, move around, or see the whole chart

  1. Open the chart on a wide screen: it opens fitted to its frame, so every box shows.
  2. Press Zoom in or Zoom out, or pinch on a trackpad, to make the boxes bigger or smaller.
  3. Drag the chart to move around it, or press the arrow at an edge where more of it lies past the frame.
  4. Press Fit to see the whole chart again.

Then: The small map in the corner shows where you are in the whole chart. With the chart chosen, + and − zoom, 0 fits it, and the arrow keys move it.

Open somebody's HR record from the chart

  1. Find their box. On a phone the chart is an indented list.
  2. Press it.

Then: Their HR record opens.

Change who reports to whom

  1. Press Hierarchy › Positions under the chart.
  2. Change the position, its holder, or who reports to it, there.
  3. Come back to the chart.

Then: The chart follows at once: nothing of it is stored apart from the positions.

Who: Positions are changed by whoever may seat people at the position's unit: the Owner, Admins, a Unit coordinator or the HR administrator.

If somebody is missing, or a name is withheld

  1. Press Show volunteers, in case they volunteer.
  2. Choose a higher Unit.
  3. Press Show.
  4. If they are still missing, press Hierarchy › Positions.
  5. Give them a position there, or a line to the position they report to.

The chart is for whoever keeps HR records at a unit: the HR administrator, the Owner and Admins. It draws only the units where you keep them, and a name a unit keeps from the levels above it reads Name withheld. Pay never shows here. The page is there only where your organization's plan has HR foundations & onboarding.
