One goal

One goal of a strategic plan: its target, owner and period, its readings, the projects put toward it, and the board's actions toward it.

See where the goal stands

  1. Read Target, Owner, Period and Reading now at the top.
  2. Read the Readings line, drawn once the goal has two readings.
  3. Read Check-in cadence and Last reading at the side: how often the board wants it read, and whether a reading is overdue.

Then: Its standing beside the title is worked out from its figure, or from its work, against how much of its period has gone.

Put a project you run toward this goal

  1. Under Projects behind this goal, choose one under Link a project.
  2. Press Link.

Then: The project is listed here with where it stands, how far along it is and its open tasks, and its own Overview names this goal. A project serves one goal at a time: linking it here takes it off any other goal.

Who: Only active projects you run are offered.

Daniel runs the project “North region outreach”. On the goal “Twelve new centers” they choose it under Link a project and press Link. The goal's page now lists it at 40% done with 6 tasks open, and the project's Overview names the goal.

Take a project off this goal

  1. Find the project under Projects behind this goal.
  2. Press Take off on its row.

Then: It leaves this goal, and its Overview no longer names it. The project itself is unchanged.

Who: Whoever runs the project.

Follow the board's actions toward it

  1. Read Governance actions: each job given toward this goal, who has it, its state and its date.
  2. Press a job's title to open Action items, where the board's actions are moved on.
  3. To give somebody a new job toward this goal, press Open the plan and use the goal's card there.

Then: A date already past shows in red. A goal with no target measures its progress by these actions.

Record a reading, or change the goal

  1. Press Open the plan.
  2. Find the goal's card there.
  3. Type the figure under Record a reading and press Record it.
  4. Or press Settings on the card to change its title, owner, dates or cadence.

Then: Back on this page, Last reading shows the new figure with who recorded it.

You see this goal if you can see its plan; for anybody else its address says not found. Projects are listed only where your organization's plan includes Tasks & projects, and only those you may open; you link or take off only the projects you run.
