Moving in from Xero
A unit's books brought in from Xero in one guided move, read straight from Xero through the book's connection: accounts, customers, suppliers, items, opening balances and what is still owed, checked to the cent and undone whole for seven days.
Connect Xero, or connect it again
- If the page says Connect Xero first, open Finance › Sync and connect this unit's book to Xero.
- If it says Connect Xero again to move in, press Connect Xero again and allow what Xero asks.
- Come back to Moving in from Xero.
Then: The move can read your Xero lists. Nothing is posted to Xero by connecting: posting starts only when you press Start posting on Sync.
Who: The organization's Owner, or a Finance officer of the unit, who keep its connection in Finance › Sync.
Choose when your books start, read your lists, and map your accounts
- Under Books start on, choose the first day you will keep the books here. Xero's balances and what was owed are read on the day before it.
- Press Next: bring your lists.
- Press Read everything from Xero.
- Press Next: map your accounts, and change any account whose suggested place isn't right.
- Press Next: check everything.
Then: Each list shows what was read: accounts, customers, suppliers, items, the opening balances, open invoices and unpaid bills. Your accounts are checked against your choices.
Bring it all in, and undo it if you need to
- Read each list's outcome and put right anything that needs you.
- Press Bring it all in.
- To take it back within seven days, find the move under Your moves from Xero and press Undo the whole move.
Then: Everything comes in as one set, in order, and the checklist shows every account's opening balance beside Xero's, to the cent. Undone, everything the move brought is taken back, last step first.
The move opens for whoever keeps the unit's book, with Record money there; a seat that only reads is told so. Reading through the Xero connection is for its keepers, where the plan has Calendar & accounting sync. Adding accounts to the chart needs whoever keeps the organization's top book, or an Owner or Admin. On a phone the move itself is not offered: it is best done on a computer. A sandbox never connects to Xero.
