Messages

Conversations with people in your organization: one person, a few, or a group reached by unit and role.

Write a new message

  1. Press New message.
  2. Type a name in the To box and choose the person. Add as many as you need.
  3. To reach a group instead, press Add filter, choose where, who and which role, and press Add.
  4. Write a subject, if you like, and your message.
  5. Press Send.

Then: It is in each person's Inbox at once, and in your Sent. With a filter, the line under it says how many it reaches before you send, never who.

Rather not? Check Send later and choose when it goes: it waits in Scheduled until then. Close it without sending and it waits in Drafts.

Who: Staff reach staff anywhere; members and volunteers are reached through their own unit. Somebody you cannot write to is not found by the To box. A filter, a whole unit, role or kind of seat, is for whoever holds Write posts or Enroll, invite and seat people at that unit, as its coordinator does; anybody else names the people.

Sokha coordinates the Kampot region and needs every lead in it. Sokha presses Add filter, chooses Kampot and every unit under it, Staff only and the lead role, and sees "Reaches 14 people you can write to" before pressing Send.

Reply to a conversation

  1. Press the conversation in your Inbox.
  2. Type in the reply box at the foot.
  3. Press Enter to send, or Shift and Enter for a new line.
  4. To answer one message in particular, open its menu and press Reply to this.

Then: Everybody in the conversation sees your reply. There is no way to reply to one of them alone: write that person a new message.

Rather not? Press the button beside the reply box named Add to your reply to attach a file or ask everyone to confirm.

Take back or correct a message you sent

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Open the menu on your message: its three dots.
  3. Press Withdraw to take it back, or Edit to correct it.

Then: A withdrawn message is hidden from everybody it went to, and kept on the organization's record.

Find an old message or file

  1. Type in the search box above the list. It finds messages, people and files.
  2. Or press a view: Unread, Starred, Mentions, Sent, Drafts, Archived or Files.
  3. Press a result to open the conversation at that message.

Rather not? Star a conversation from its top bar to keep it under Starred, or archive it to take it out of your Inbox until a new message brings it back.

Report a message that worries you

  1. Open the message's menu: its three dots.
  2. Press Report.
  3. Choose why, and add anything they should know.
  4. Press Send report.

Then: The safeguarding lead for your unit has it, or your organization's if your unit has none. You are told it was received, and later that it was seen to.

Who: Whoever wrote it is not told. The words are kept with your report, even if they are changed or withdrawn later.

You see only the conversations you are part of: who could read a message was decided when it was sent, and moving unit does not take a conversation away. On a device you chose to remember when you signed in, your recent messages are kept on it so Messages opens at once, even with no signal. They are removed when you sign out, or once the device has not connected for 72 hours. Your organization can turn this off.
