Linked organization
One link with another organization: what each side shares, the named contacts both ways, the conversation, the months they published, the grants across the link each way, and a record of everything that crossed.
Give the linked organization a grant
- On Hierarchy, add a unit whose relationship is Outside grantee, named for the partner, if you have none.
- On the link's page, under Grants you give, choose it under The unit standing for them and press Save.
- Press Open Grants and record the grant to that unit as you would any outside grant: the fund, the installments, the reports asked for.
- Agree it, or send it for approval over your organization's amount. Send each installment as Money out from your book when it is due.
Then: As the grant is agreed, its agreement and schedule cross to the partner by value. Each installment you send crosses as sent; the partner confirms what arrived in its own bank, and you are told. Each report the partner sends appears on the grant as a report to review; accept it or send it back, and your answer crosses.
Who: An Owner names the unit. Whoever holds Record money at the giving unit records, sends and reviews, as for any grant; Approve money there approves one over the amount.
Grace records Clean water, 2027 to the unit Nepal Hope (linked), with three installments. Nepal Hope sees Meridian Foundation agreed a grant, and confirms the first installment when the money lands.
Confirm an installment arrived
- Under Grants they give you, find the installment and press Confirm it arrived.
- The first time, choose The unit of yours it lands in and your fund for their fund; it is remembered for this partner.
- Choose The account it came into and What it is, in your chart.
- Type What arrived, in your book's currency, as your bank shows it. Far from your organization's rate for the month, say why.
- Press Post Money in and confirm.
Then: Money in is posted in your own book, in the fund you chose, and the giver is told what arrived and when. The installment shows Arrived with its entry.
Who: Whoever holds Record money at the unit it lands in. The giving organization never confirms anything here.
Sokha keeps Nepal Hope's book in rupees. US$5,000.00 was sent; their bank shows NPR 665,000.00. They confirm it into Kathmandu, the Clean water fund, from the bank account, as grant income.
Write and send a report on their grant
- Under Reports, press Write beside a report that is due or was sent back.
- Answer What was done, Results and Problems met (say None if there were none).
- Press Save to keep it, or Send to the partner.
Then: As it is sent, its figures are read from your own book — spending in the matched fund at the receiving unit for the report's months, by your account groups — and frozen. The giver reads only that frozen copy, accepts it or sends it back with a reason, and you are told. Press Correct on a report sent back or accepted to open a new version; the earlier one is kept as sent.
Who: Whoever holds Record money at the unit the grant lands in. The report is written only once the grant is matched: confirm its first installment first.
Sokha answers the three questions for January to March and presses Send. Meridian sees Report 1 with NPR 410,000.00 spent and accepts it; installment 2, which waited for it, can now be sent.
Share published months, write a message, or end the link
- Press Share our published months to send the last twelve months your top units published, then each new one; press Stop sharing our published months to stop.
- Under Messages, write to the partner's named contacts and press Send. No attachments.
- Under Your contacts, press Change to name who here they may write to: only people whose names you are shown are offered.
- Press End the link to end it at once, and confirm it's you.
Then: Months arrive on the partner's page as frozen totals: income, spending and net, in the book's currency. Messages reach their named contacts by bell. Ended, nothing more crosses in either direction; everything already sent stays in each side's own records.
Who: An Owner shares months, changes contacts and ends the link. Named contacts and Owners write messages.
Meridian turns on sharing; Nepal Hope sees twelve months of Meridian International's totals, and each month after as it is published.
The page opens for an Owner, an organization-wide admin, a named contact on the link, or somebody whose book a grant across it touches. Only the people who keep the receiving book confirm installments and write reports; only an Owner ends the link, changes contacts, shares months or names the unit standing for the partner.
