Interests declared
One board's register of interests: what its members hold that could pull against it, standing and ended, read before a matter is discussed.
Declare an interest
- Open the board and press Interests declared.
- Type the interest in your own words under Declare an interest: a directorship, a relative on the staff, a stake in a supplier.
- Press Declare it.
Then: It is on the register under your name, dated, until you end it. When you stand out of a vote on this body, it is offered as your reason.
Who: Only you declare your interests, and only you end them: nobody can record one for somebody else.
Before the cleaning contract comes up, Daniel declares that a sibling owns Brightway Cleaning, one of the bidders. At the meeting Daniel presses stand out on the contract motion, and that declaration is offered as the reason.
Read the register before a matter is discussed
- Read the list: standing interests first, each with when it was declared, then ended ones, struck through and dated.
- Press Download to keep a copy.
- Choose Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv).
Then: The file lists who, whether it was declared to this body or to its unit at large, the interest, when it was declared and ended, and whether it is held. The download is kept on the organization's record.
Who: The register holds the interests declared to this body, and any declared at its unit at large.
Grace chairs the finance committee. Before the audit tender, Grace opens Interests declared, sees Sokha has been a director of one of the bidding firms since March, and asks Sokha to stand out of that item.
End an interest you no longer hold
- Find your declaration on the register.
- Press I no longer hold this.
Then: It stays on the register, dated as ended, because a vote may have cited it. It is no longer offered when you stand out of a vote.
Sokha stood down as a trustee of a partner charity in June and presses I no longer hold this. The register shows it ended that day, and last year's vote that cited it still reads the same.
The register opens for people who can read board business at the body's unit. Declare it shows only to somebody on this board's roster, and I no longer hold this only beside your own. A member seated on the board without permission to read board business sees the board's page but not this register.
