Imports

Bring work in from another tool: an Asana project, a Trello or monday.com board, or any spreadsheet becomes a project at one of your units, and a class you run can be brought in from Google Classroom or a spreadsheet.

Bring a project in from another tool

  1. Under From, choose Asana, Trello, monday.com or Any spreadsheet. The panel beside it says how to export the file from that tool.
  2. Choose the unit under Which of your units is this for? and press the button to continue.
  3. Upload the file as it downloaded, and press Continue to match fields.
  4. Check what each column is matched to, which values mean Urgent, High, Normal or Low, which statuses mean done, and who each person in the file is.
  5. Press Preview the import, read the counts and the warnings, then press Run the import.

Then: A new project at your unit, open to everybody there, with you as its owner and the matched people on it: its columns, tasks, dates, priorities, checklists and comments as the file had them. Nobody is told about the tasks it gives them, and no channel hears of it: people find their tasks in their own work.

Daniel exports the Spring launch project from Asana as CSV and imports it into Marketing: six sections become six columns, and nine people are matched by email. A freelance photographer has no account here, so their tasks come in given to nobody, with their name kept on each.

If somebody in the file was not matched

  1. In Match fields, find them under People.
  2. Choose who they are from the people you may give tasks to at that unit, or leave them.

Then: Anybody left unmatched has their tasks given to nobody, with their name kept on the task, so you can give the task out in the project afterwards.

Undo an import

  1. Find it under Past imports.
  2. Press Undo, or Undo this import on its Done step.
  3. Read what it removes, there in place, and press Undo the import, or Keep it.

Then: Everything the import made is removed, the project and all of it, with any change made to the imported tasks since.

Bring a class in

  1. Open the class and press its button to bring it in, or choose a class tool under From here.
  2. Choose the class under Which class?.
  3. Upload its files, match the columns, and run it as for a project.

Then: Its people, attendance and scores come into the class. The rows read from its files are kept for 7 days, so you can invite the people they name, then deleted.

Imports are offered to whoever runs projects at a unit, and a class's to whoever runs it. Past imports shows your own, and those at units where you could run them. On a phone the page offers to email you a link: matching columns and checking a preview need a computer.
