Hierarchy
How your organization is shaped — countries, regions, chapters, or whatever you call them — and how many people are seated in each unit.
Add a unit
- Find the unit the new one belongs with. With more than eight units, the search box above the tree finds one by name or code.
- Press Inside on its row to add a unit under it, or Beside to add one at the same level next to it.
- Type its Name.
- Check Level type and Parent: the button you pressed chose both, and you can change either.
- Add a Code or a Jurisdiction if your organization uses them.
- Leave Currency on Inherit from the unit above, unless this unit banks separately.
- Press Create unit.
Then: It appears in the tree at once, with 0 below and 0 seats. If its level normally sits above its parent's, a note over the tree says so: it is still made, because a unit may skip levels.
Rather not? To lay down many units at once, press Start from a ready-made structure or Import a hierarchy from a spreadsheet above the tree.
Sokha looks after the Kampot region. They press Inside on Kampot, type Riverside, leave the Level type on the level below a region, and press Create unit. Riverside appears under Kampot with 0 seats, ready for its people.
Rename a unit, change its level, or give it a picture
- Press Edit on its row.
- Change its Name, Code or Jurisdiction.
- Choose its Level. If the level it needs has no name yet, choose + Add a level… and type it in New level.
- Leave Timezone and Currency on Inherit from the unit above unless this unit keeps its own clock or banks separately.
- Check Withhold names from units above this one only where the people here must not be named to the units above.
- Press Save.
- For a picture or logo, press Choose a picture under the form, then Save picture.
Then: The tree shows the change at once. A new level is kept and offered for every unit. A picture shows on the unit's row, on every unit beneath it that has none of its own, and on events there that have no picture. Withholding names is recorded as a security event: anybody above then sees counts and totals only, an organization-wide role included.
Every unit was added before the levels were named, so each one says Organization. Grace presses Edit on the first, chooses + Add a level…, types State and saves. The other units can now choose State from Level.
Move a unit under another
- Press Move on its row.
- Choose its New parent. The unit itself and everything beneath it are not offered.
- Choose what the unit it leaves keeps: Keep nothing, Keep records from before the move or Keep totals only.
- Press Move unit.
Then: The unit moves with everything beneath it, and the people seated there and everything recorded go with it. The unit it left keeps only what you chose, and the totals already reported for earlier periods stay as they were.
Riverside was filed under the wrong region. Daniel presses Move, chooses Kampot as the New parent and Keep totals only, so the old region still sees Riverside's totals for the months it oversaw but none of its records, and presses Move unit.
Archive a unit, or delete one made by mistake
- Press Archive on its row.
- Press Archive again to confirm.
- To bring one back, open Archived at the foot of the page and press Restore.
- For a unit made by mistake, with nothing below it and nobody seated, press Delete on its row instead, then Delete to confirm.
Then: An archived unit leaves the tree and every list that walks it, and nothing recorded against it is deleted. A deleted unit is gone for good.
A unit was added twice by mistake. Nobody was ever seated at the second one and nothing is recorded there, so Mary Ann presses Delete and it is gone, rather than staying in Archived for good.
Download the whole tree
- Press Download the hierarchy at the top of the page.
- Choose Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv).
Then: The file holds every active unit in the import's own columns, with its dropdowns. Add a row for each new unit and bring it back on the import page: rows for units already there are left alone.
You see your own units and everything beneath them, and nothing beside them: a unit whose parent you cannot see sits at the top of your tree, and every count is of what you can see. Edit, Move, Archive, Inside and Beside appear only on units where you may change units, usually the Owner, an Organization admin or an IT admin. A Names withheld badge marks a unit that keeps its people's names from the units above it. Somebody whose every seat is a volunteer seat sees nobody else's: Hierarchy says so, and offers Open Messages.
