Reading receipts with AI, how mileage is claimed and at what rates, and the 1099 threshold for each year's payments to contractors.
Read receipts with AI, or stop
- Under Reading receipts with AI, read what is sent, and to whom.
- Press Switch it on, and press it again in the box that asks.
- To stop, press Switch it off.
Then: A receipt photo added to a claim, a new bill or Money out can be read with Read the receipt: what it shows is listed beside the photo, and Fill these in puts it into the form for the person to check. Nothing is saved until they save the form. Reading keeps no copy of the photo and nothing of what was read; the photo is kept with the claim, bill or entry, as every receipt is, once the form is saved.
Who: Owners and Admins switch it on or off. Each receipt read counts against your organization's AI budget, on Settings › Features › AI assistant.
Set the mileage rate
- Under Mileage, choose whether Distances in are miles or kilometers, and A mileage claim's account, such as Travel. Press Save.
- Under Add a rate, choose From the day it starts, type the rate a mile or kilometer, such as 0.725, and choose the Currency.
- Press Add the rate.
Then: A mileage claim is paid at the rate in force on the day of its trip: the newest rate whose day is on or before it. A claim already made keeps the rate it was made at, even if the rate is removed later.
Who: Whoever keeps the organization's own books (Record money at its top unit) sets the rates; everybody who records money reads them here.
Meridian pays 70 cents a mile from January 1, 2025, and 72.5 cents from January 1, 2026. Grace drove 21 miles each way on March 2, 2026, there and back: 42 miles at $0.725 is $30.45.
Set a year's 1099 threshold
- Under Contractors (1099, US), read each year's threshold.
- For a year with none, choose the Year and type the IRS's figure in Threshold, in whole dollars.
- Press Set the threshold.
Then: The 1099 report shows whose payments in that year reach it.
Rather not? Press Use the law's figure to go back to the figure the law fixed, for a year that has one.
Whoever records money anywhere reads this page. Owners and Admins switch reading receipts on or off; whoever keeps the organization's own books sets the rates and thresholds.
