Events

The kinds of event on your calendar, in your own words: they fill the Category box on the calendar's event form and the calendar's filter chips.

Add a kind of event

  1. Press Add a category at the top of the list.
  2. Type its name in Name, such as Staff meeting or Open day.
  3. Choose a Color for its chip, or No color to let the calendar pick one.
  4. Press Add under the form.

Then: It is offered at once in the Category box when anybody adds an event to the calendar, at every unit, and the calendar can be filtered by it.

Grace's organization holds a staff meeting every Monday and an open day each term. Grace adds Staff meeting in teal and Open day in amber, and the next Monday's meeting is filed under Staff meeting with a teal chip on every calendar.

Rename or recolor one

  1. Press Edit on its row.
  2. Change Name or Color.
  3. Press Save.

Then: The new name and color show on every unit's calendar at once, on the events already filed under it too.

Stop offering one

  1. Press Withdraw at the end of its row.
  2. Read what withdrawing does, and press Withdraw it, or Keep it.
  3. To offer it again later, press Offer again on its row.

Then: It is no longer offered when an event is added, and its row says not offered. Events already filed under it keep it.

Make a kind of event a kind of program

  1. Press Move to Programs on its row.
  2. Read how many of its events become programs.
  3. Press Move to Programs again to agree, or Keep it here.

Then: Every event filed under it becomes a program, listed on Programs with pages of its own, and stays on the calendar as it was. The category moves to Programs, under Settings › Categories, and is offered when a program is added rather than on the calendar's event form.

Rather not? To bring one back, open Settings › Categories › Programs and press Move to Events there.

Sokha's organization has held its retreats as calendar events for a year. Sokha moves Retreat to Programs, and the four retreats filed under it are listed on Programs the same afternoon, each ready for bookings and a running order.

They are the same at every unit, so only an organization-wide role that changes settings, such as the Owner or an Admin, can change them. The page opens only for those who hold Change organization settings: anybody else who types its address is told it is set up by the organization's Owners and Admins. Somebody who holds it at a unit, not across the organization, sees the whole list with every button on it grayed out.
