Details
What the whole organization starts from: its name, clock, currency and language, how people sign in, its logo and app, and its web address.
Set the clock, currency and language
- Choose the Country the organization is based in, and its Language.
- Choose its Timezone. Type part of a place's name to find it.
- Choose its Currency, while it can still change.
- Choose a 12-hour or 24-hour Clock.
- Type a number in Broadcast approval over to hold a broadcast that reaches more people than that until somebody else approves it, or leave it blank.
- If it is offered, check The people who run a unit may read its board to let Coordinators and unit leads read their own unit's ordinary board business.
- Press Save changes on the bar at the foot of the page.
Then: The bar goes once it is saved. Every unit that keeps no clock or currency of its own uses these, and everybody who has not chosen a language of their own sees ORG-APP in this one, once it is a reviewed translation; other languages are recorded and shown in English.
Rather not? To give one unit a clock or a currency of its own, open it on Hierarchy and set its Timezone or Currency there.
Sokha's organization is based in Cambodia. Before anybody posts to the book, Sokha chooses Cambodia, Khmer, the Phnom Penh timezone and the riel, keeps the 24-hour clock and saves, so every unit without a clock of its own shows meeting times on Phnom Penh's.
Ask for a new name or web address
- Type the new name in Organization name, or the name your people see in the top bar and in emails in Product name.
- For a new web address, the Owner types it in New web address, under Web address.
- Press Save changes.
- If you are asked to confirm it's you, enter your password again.
- Read what is waiting under Waiting for ORG-APP.
Then: Nothing changes yet. Every page, the sign-in page included, keeps the old name while ORG-APP checks the new one against the names closest to it, and whoever asked hears by email when it is approved, or declined with the reason. The Owner asks, and ORG-APP approves it, for a new web address too; once it is in place, the old address keeps working and forwards to the new one, so links people saved still arrive.
Rather not? Press Withdraw at the end of a request, then Withdraw it, to take it back; each one taken back is recorded with who did it. Asking again for a new name, product name or web address replaces the one of that kind that was waiting.
Who: ORG-APP's own team approves or declines every new name, product name and web address. The installed app's name, under Your installed app, is not asked for: it changes as soon as it is saved.
Daniel's organization started as riverside-trust and would rather be riverside. As the Owner, Daniel asks for the new address on Monday, and it shows under Waiting for ORG-APP. On Wednesday Daniel hears by email that it is in place, and a link in last month's newsletter still arrives, forwarded to the new address.
Get verified
- Read the notice at the top of the page: it says whether ORG-APP has verified your organization.
- Press Get verified.
- On Verification, say where your organization is registered and press Ask to be verified.
Then: The notice says ORG-APP is checking, and you hear by email. Until your organization is verified, the public sees no Give page, no bank details and no paid places, so nobody can take money in its name.
Rather not? Once you have asked, the notice's link reads Your request; once you are verified, Details.
Choose how people sign in and stay signed in
- Check Administrators, and anyone handling pay, safeguarding or the books, must use a second factor to make them use two-step sign-in.
- Under Staying signed in on a device, choose the longest for Administrators and for Everybody else, or Don't remember devices.
- Leave Keep pages and messages on remembered devices checked, or uncheck it.
- Check or uncheck Let people who book or are invited sign in with an emailed code.
- Press Save changes.
Then: A shorter length applies at once, to devices already remembered too. On the devices people chose to remember, the installed app keeps each person's main pages for up to 72 hours since it last connected, so it opens at once, even with no signal. Their recent messages are kept too, so Messages opens at once, in the app or a browser tab; a browser tab keeps no pages. Everything kept is removed when they sign out. Turned off, nothing is kept on any device, and what a device keeps is removed when it next connects.
Rather not? The Owner also chooses, under Sign-in, whether People may sign in with Google: only people who already have an account here, matched by their Google email, and anybody who set up the 6-digit code still enters it.
Who: Only an Owner loosens how people sign in: turns two-step sign-in off for administrators, lets devices stay signed in for longer, keeps pages and messages on them, lets guests sign in with a code, or turns on Sign in with Google. They confirm it's them first, and every Owner is told at once. Whoever keeps the organization's settings may tighten any of them. A support visit loosens nothing.
Grace's volunteers share one office computer. Grace keeps administrators at 7 days and chooses Don't remember devices for everybody else, so a volunteer who forgets to sign out there is asked to sign in again the next day.
Add your logo, app icon and app name
- Under Name and look, press Choose a logo and pick the picture.
- For an icon of its own, press Choose a square picture. Otherwise the icon is made from your logo.
- Choose an Icon background and press Upload the logo and icon. It is uploaded at once.
- Under Your installed app, type a short App name, or press one of the names suggested, and press Save changes.
- To color your pages, pick a Brand color under Name and look, and press Save changes.
Then: Saved. Installed apps pick up the new icon when they next update. The logo shows on your sign-in page and your website, and the icon beside your name at the top of every page and on the home screen of everybody who installs the app.
Rather not? Press Remove beside the logo, then Use ORG-APP's own logo and icon: with no square picture of your own, ORG-APP's own logo and icon come back.
Mary Ann's organization is called Riverside Community Trust, which a phone would cut off under the icon. Mary Ann presses the suggested name Riverside, saves, and adds the square logo the designer sent, on a white background.
Everything here applies in every unit at once, so changing it needs an organization-wide role that changes settings, such as the Owner or an Admin; anybody else sees the name, the look, the region and the address with every control disabled, under a notice at the top that says who changes them, and is not shown how the organization signs in or who approves its broadcasts. The currency also needs finance permission, and the switch for who reads the boards is offered only to somebody with standing over the boards. Only the Owner changes the web address and Sign in with Google. The link to your own domain is for the Owner and Admins alone, as that page is on their Settings menu, and a demo organization is shown nothing about verification.
