A person's review

One person's review in a cycle: their self review beside the reviewer's view, the meeting and the sign-off, their word on it and any appeal, and their goals.

Write your self review, or a peer view you were asked for

  1. Open the review from Waiting on you on Reviews, or from its notice.
  2. Answer each question: choose a number where it asks for one, and write in the box.
  3. Press Save draft to come back to it later.
  4. Press Send my self review, or Send my view for a peer view.

Then: Your self review is yours alone until you send it. Sent, your reviewer reads it, and it stays as you sent it. A peer view is read by the reviewer at once, and by HR, the person's manager and the Owners once the review is shared; never by the person.

Write the review as its reviewer

  1. Read their self review, once they have sent it.
  2. Write your view of each question in your own column.
  3. Choose the Overall rating.
  4. Add anything from your 1:1s in Points from your 1:1s.
  5. Press Save draft to keep it to yourself for now.
  6. Choose when you will meet under Meeting.
  7. Press Submit and book the meeting.
  8. After you have met, press Sign off.

Then: Submitted, it is shared: they are told, and read your view, the rating and the meeting. Anything you save after sharing shows them Changed after sharing, with when. Signed off, it is locked, and they are told to acknowledge it, add their comment, or appeal within 14 days.

Who: Your draft is yours alone: HR sees its stage, never its words, until you share it. Once shared, HR, their manager and the Owners read it, and peer views sent show to you.

Acknowledge your review, or appeal it

  1. Open your review once it says Signed off.
  2. Write Your comment (optional) if you have something to say.
  3. Press Acknowledge my review.
  4. To disagree, open Appeal this review.
  5. Write Why you are appealing.
  6. Press Lodge my appeal.

Then: Acknowledged, it says so with the day, and you can change your comment later with Save my comment. An appeal goes to HR nearest your unit, or to the Owners where there is none, never to your reviewer, and you are told the answer.

Who: Only you write your comment and lodge an appeal. HR or an Owner who is not your reviewer answers it; the top person's, another Owner.

Answer an appeal

  1. Open the review from Waiting on you.
  2. Open the HR unlock: type Your HR PIN, or press Use my password instead and type Your password.
  3. Press Open.
  4. Read the appeal and the review.
  5. Choose Upheld, Revised or Declined under Your answer.
  6. Write Why.
  7. To change the reviewer's view or rating with an upheld or revised answer, open Revise the reviewer's view (upheld or revised only), then check Change the view with this answer.
  8. Make the changes below it.
  9. Press Send the answer.

Then: The person is told. Upheld or revised with the change checked, the reviewer's view and rating change in the same step, and what they replaced is kept in the review's history. Declined, the review stays as signed off. The answer stands: an appeal is answered once.

Who: HR over the person, or an Owner; the top person's, an Owner. Never the reviewer, and never the person.

Set goals and check in on them

  1. Press Goals.
  2. Open Add a goal.
  3. Write The goal.
  4. Give A number to reach (optional) and What it counts, if it has one.
  5. Choose the organization's goal it serves under Serves the organization's goal (optional), if any.
  6. Press Add the goal.
  7. Later, open Check in on the goal.
  8. Choose How it stands.
  9. Give How far, where it has a number to reach.
  10. Write A sentence on it.
  11. Press Save.

Then: The goal shows with its progress and how it stands. Check-ins are kept, never edited. Mark done or Drop it closes it.

Who: The person, their manager or HR over them sets a goal; the person or their manager checks in and closes it. HR reads each goal's detail and check-in notes with the HR unlock open.

Only the review's own people and its keepers open it: the person, its reviewer, a colleague asked for a peer view (who sees only their own view), HR over the person, their manager and the Owners. The person reads their self review always and the reviewer's view once shared; the reviewer reads the self review once sent; HR, the manager and the Owners read it once shared, never a draft, and HR or an Owner reads its words only with the HR unlock open. Where the person's unit keeps its people's names from the levels above, a keeper sees its stage alone. The top person's review is the Owners' and theirs alone. The 1:1 notes tab is the manager's own.
