A group's wall

One group's wall: what its members post and ask, its next meeting, who runs it, and, for those running it, the ways people get in.

Post, or ask the group for support

  1. Choose Post, or Request to ask the group for its support.
  2. Type in the box.
  3. Add up to six photos or files with Photo or File, if you like.
  4. For a request meant only for those running the group, check the box that says only they see it.
  5. Press Post, or Ask for a request.

Then: A post is on the wall for everybody in the group, and reaches them in their daily summary. Others answer a request with Supporting, and you press Mark answered when it is.

Mary Ann asks the study group for tips before exams, as a request to everybody. Eight people press Supporting and three comment; a week later Mary Ann presses Mark answered, and the wall says request · answered.

Make an announcement

  1. Choose Post.
  2. Type the announcement.
  3. Check the Announcement box under it.
  4. Press Post.

Then: It is pinned at the top of the wall and sent to everybody in the group at once, by bell, phone and email.

Who: Whoever runs the group and its helpers make announcements.

After the camp, Sokha announces Sunday's meet-up at 4:00 PM at the Riverside youth center. All 31 members are told at once, and it stays at the top of the wall until it is unpinned.

Give people a way in

  1. Under Ways in, set Admit at most if you want a limit.
  2. Press Create a join code.
  3. Read the code out, or press Copy code or Copy link to send it.
  4. Press Show QR code for a poster.
  5. Or press Invite by email, choose people by name or email, and press Send the invitation.

Then: A code never lets anyone in by itself: people who use it wait on the People tab until you let them in. A code works for 30 days. Each person invited is asked by email and on their bell, and answers on My groups.

Rather not? Press Replace code to stop the old code at once and get a new one, or Turn it off.

Who: Whoever runs the group and its helpers. Only whoever runs it can ask people to help run it.

Change the group's settings, or close it

  1. Press Group settings at the top.
  2. Change its Name, what it is for, or Who may post, and press Save.
  3. To close it, press Close the group, then Yes, close it.

Then: Closed, its wall and files are kept for everybody in it to read. Nothing new is posted, its code stops working, invitations still out are taken back, and anybody waiting to join is told. Open it again from the same place.

Who: Only whoever runs the group sees Group settings; its helpers do not.

Report a post that worries you

  1. Press the flag beside the post (labeled Report it to a safeguarding lead).
  2. Choose why.
  3. Add anything they should know, if you like.
  4. Press Report it.

Then: It goes to your safeguarding lead, or to your organization's owners where there is no safeguarding lead. Whoever wrote it is not told, and nothing changes on the wall.

Only people in the group see it: anybody else, an owner of the organization included, finds no such page, and somebody whose request to join is still waiting sees nothing until they are let in. Ways in and Invite people are for whoever runs the group and its helpers; Group settings, pinning and taking down other people's posts are for whoever runs it. Somebody from outside the organization reads, writes, answers meetings and reports posts here as any member does. The program a group came from is named at the top of every tab, and is a link only for somebody who may open that program: from outside, or from a unit it is not shared with, it is its name alone.
